Camp 2 Out

June 23

To Parents/Carers of Pupils in Years 5 and 6

School Camp 2025

Arrangements have been made again to hold 3 camps in Chelsworth for children in Years 5 and 6 and will be held over 1 night. Children will leave school on the day of camp at 9.15am and return the next day at approximately 2.30pm. The camps will run from Thursday 19th June – Thursday 26th June 2025 and there will be no weekend camp.

The camps will be led by Mr Peters and Mrs Lee, along with Teachers. Camps are also staffed by parent volunteers, to whom we are very grateful. The children learn many citizenship and team skills. They are responsible for keeping their tent tidy, helping with the washing up and collection of wood and water. The camp is divided into clans and activities are organised to encourage team and co-operation skills. There is plenty of opportunity to play; in the woods, on the field and in the marquees.

The cost of camp will remain the same as last year at £60.00 per child. To secure your child’s place at camp, we require a £10.00 deposit payable via the Arbor app, which will be non-refundable unless in exceptional circumstances as agreed with the Headteacher. The deposit needs to be paid by the strict deadline of Friday 28th March 2025. The balance of £50.00 can be paid in instalments with full and final payment to be received by Friday 6th June 2025. If required we can seek financial support on your behalf (please ask at the office for an application form). The price of £60.00 covers the cost of transport, DBS checks for parent helpers, insurance, food and drinks and the hire of portaloos and skips that we have on site, plus upkeep and replacement of equipment.

If your child would/would not like to attend camp this year, please complete the online form by clicking on this link: https://forms.office.com/e/6ePJaJh73V by Friday 28th March at the latest. Your child will be allocated one of the 3 camps (camp preference will be given to children whose parents are committed to help on specific camps). The year group staff will allocate tents for the children, this will enable us to have a balance of boys and girls and mixed year groups on all camps.

Apart from a sleeping bag and a change of clothes no special equipment is needed, although the need for warm and waterproof clothes along with sensible footwear must be emphasised. A kit list will follow closer to the event. Your child will need a packed lunch and a named water bottle for their first day at camp.

The numbers are restricted to approximately 50 children per camp. To cater for this number, we need 8 adult helpers per camp, 2 of whom must be women (if the correct number of helpers is not forthcoming, the number of camps or children camping, will have to be reduced accordingly). Some experienced volunteers have already confirmed their availability, however if you are able to help please also indicate this on the online form (link above). Also, could we refer you to the attachment and complete the form either using the link provided or scan the QR code. N.B. We can only accept your help if you can commit to the whole of your camp (including overnight). You will also only be able to volunteer at camp if we have received a cleared DBS in school in plenty of time before camp starts.

If you have any other queries, please speak to the office.

Yours sincerely
